My JOURNEY on Medium

I was well aware of
Medium but always felt it to be platform for extremely talented writers who did
a lot of research on their articles.
When I reflect on my
Medium journey, the first name that comes to my mind instantly is Vivek Naskar, who
is one of my friends on Twitter, who encouraged me to try writing on Medium. It
was enough for me to start writing on this platform.
To keep myself consistent
on this platform, I participated in the challenge #100DaysOfWriting
on Medium on
02.10.2024, when I published one or two articles every day. This challenge was
supposed to end on 09.01.2025, but I had to take a gap of almost 1.5 months as
I was visiting my family, and completed it on 17.03.2025 with an article — Holi 2025. A lot of things, both good and bad, have
happened in that period.

Now comes the time for
some numbers. Till now, I’ve published 130 stories and commented on 785
articles. Surely, I must have read more articles than on which I’ve commented.
I gained 687 followers from 0 in a few months.
I took annual Member
subscription that cost me $50. Initially I earned about $10 for the first three
months which gave me a hope that I would be able to recover this amount till
Feb/Mar 2025 but change in Medium Payout Algorithm has made it a distant dream.
It appears to be impossible for me, right now.
If you observe one thing
about my articles, you’ll find that I mostly write about real-life incidents. I
have always been attracted to write about non-fiction, focusing on learning
from my day-to-day activities, which would give me enough opportunities to
reflect on my life on a daily basis and derive motivations from it.
I get a lot of ideas for
my articles every now and then, I try to note them down as drafts and my draft
count has reached upto 64! This article has been picked up from my draft which
was supposed to be published during end of Dec,2024 as a reflection on my
journey on Medium for 2024.
I’ve been writing on this
blog for over 12 years. After a certain point, I didn’t feel like promoting my
posts, which resulted in a lack of readership or interactions on my posts. As a
writer, I do crave interactions or feedback for my posts.
What I like about Medium
is its simple interface. Everything is so clear and straightforward. It didn’t
take me very long to get a hold of its features, which made me very comfortable
on this platform, and I focused on my write-ups more than anything else. This
platform also satisfied my urge to read and interact with other writers. So, I
enjoyed reading, writing, and commenting on others’ articles.
A lot of things happen in
a day in our lives, and when we try to reflect on it, we will be bound to pinpoint
something special that happened on that day. I am just trying to capture those
special moments without passing them into oblivion, through my writing.
I feel that life is too
short to just live independently without sharing anything. On this platform, I
am documenting and sharing the lessons or learnings from the journey of my life,
and if it helps anyone in any way, that’ll be the biggest blessing of my life.
Looking forward to
reading and learning from the experiences of your lives!
